Trinity Rep’s volunteer ushers play a vital role in creating a safe, positive, and welcoming space for our audiences. We seek diverse, engaged volunteers eager to uphold and amplify Trinity Rep’s commitments to hospitality, community, anti-racism, and anti-oppression.
WHAT DO VOLUNTEER USHERS DO?
Volunteer duties may include but are not limited to scanning tickets, providing directions, escorting patrons to their seats, stuffing and/or distributing programs, supporting guests with accessibility needs, and quickly implementing safety protocols in the event of an emergency.

WHAT REQUIREMENTS ARE THERE TO USHER?
As of July 28, 2022, all volunteers must either show proof of full vaccination against COVID-19 (at least 14 days have passed since the final dose) with a booster; or a medical or religious exemption with a negative COVID test taken 72 hours before each shift. All volunteers, along with staff, will remain masked in a KN95 mask (provided by Trinity Rep on arrival) while in the building.
Ushers must be at least 18 years old, or at least 16 years old and accompanied by an adult. If you have mobility concerns, please let us know in advance so that we can plan the best experience for you.
WHAT TIME SHOULD I ARRIVE?
Ushers are required to arrive no later than one hour prior to the performance for which they are scheduled. A short orientation is given to all ushers before each performance with details about that day’s show.
WHERE CAN I PARK?
Street parking is available with meters running until 9:00 pm Monday – Saturday. Several additional parking options are located in the area around Trinity Rep. Please check local events and weather for parking and traffic delays.
CAN I WATCH THE PERFORMANCE?
We do our best to accommodate ushers with seats to the performance they are working. However, some shows will sell out and seating cannot be guaranteed for ushers. Should this occur, we will allow you to return to watch another performance at a later date if available.
WHAT IS TRINITY REP’S USHER REWARDS PROGRAM?
For every three shifts successfully completed, each usher will earn a ticket voucher to be used for any show during the rest of the current season. Vouchers are subject to blackout dates.
