A Rhode Island Holiday Tradition: Trinity Rep, Cardi’s, and the Joy of A Christmas Carol

Hello, friends! It’s Ron and Pete Cardi here, ready to kick off another festive season with one of our favorite traditions—the timeless Trinity Rep production of A Christmas Carol! For decades, families across Rhode Island have made this heartwarming story part of their holiday celebrations, and we’re honored that Cardi’s Furniture & Mattresses has been a part of spreading this joy every year.

If there’s one thing we’ve learned running a family business, it’s that traditions matter. Just like the holiday dinners with loved ones or decorating the tree, seeing A Christmas Carol at Trinity Rep is a chance to come together, reflect, and share the magic of the season. And what a story it is! Ebenezer Scrooge’s journey from “Bah, humbug!” to “God bless us, everyone!” reminds us all of the importance of kindness, generosity, and making the most of the time we have with those we hold dear.

Our relationship with Trinity Rep stretches back many years, and it’s one we cherish deeply. Supporting this incredible theater company is more than a partnership for us—it’s a way of giving back to the community that has supported our family for generations. We’ve been proud to sponsor this production and help keep it an accessible and beloved tradition for Rhode Islanders everywhere.

Now, we couldn’t talk about A Christmas Carol without mentioning some of the fun we’ve had creating those memorable commercials over the years! You’ve probably seen us dressed in our holiday best, cracking jokes, and inviting you to experience this special production. Whether we’re channeling a bit of Scrooge’s grumpiness or Tiny Tim’s optimism, those spots are always a blast to make.

But there’s a reason we do it: A Christmas Carol isn’t just entertainment. It’s an experience. It’s the laughter of children seeing the Ghost of Christmas Present for the first time. It’s the collective gasp when Scrooge realizes the error of his ways. And it’s the tears of joy when he embraces his new lease on life. Seeing that magic unfold on stage is something we look forward to every year, and we love sharing that excitement with all of you.

For us, the holidays are about more than gifts or decorations (though, of course, if you need a new sofa or mattress to host family, we’ve got you covered!). They’re about moments that bring us together—moments like sitting in the audience at Trinity Rep, surrounded by friends, family, and neighbors, watching Scrooge’s transformation unfold.

So this holiday season, grab your tickets, gather your loved ones, and make A Christmas Carol part of your family tradition. We promise it’s an experience that will leave you smiling, laughing, and maybe even shedding a happy tear.

From our family to yours, have a Merry Christmas, a Happy New Year, and as Tiny Tim said best, “God bless us, everyone!”

Warm wishes,
Ron & Pete
