Project Discovery has given more than 1.4 million students the chance to experience live professional theater at a discounted rate through student matinees. Through Project Discovery, we offer study guides, in-school workshops, and residencies for students, as well as professional development and preview nights for teachers.
Each season, we select an educational centerpiece show which is curriculum-tied as our Project Discovery Plus play. When a group purchases tickets to a Project Discovery performance, they receive a comprehensive written study guide PLUS up to three, free in-school workshops with their students. These workshops are led by our education and artistic staff as well as our actors and sometimes the creative team and can focus on themes, the production itself, Shakespearean language, acting, and more. We also provide a video study guide to be shown in the classroom. This year’s Project Discovery Plus play is La Tempestad — The Tempest.

$16/student ticket
$18/student ticket (December A Christmas Carol only)
1 free chaperone ticket for every 15 student seats purchased
$28/ticket for each additional chaperone

A Christmas Carol
We recommend A Christmas Carol Project Discovery performances for elementary, middle, and high school students.
Please note that Orchestra and Loge seating is sold out for these performances. Any further requests will be automatically sat in the First Dress Circle in the second balcony. See PPAC’s seating chart here for reference. Due to these seats being slightly farther away from the stage, tickets are $10 each. Schools may be added to the waitlist for any Orchestra and Loge seats that may open up at $18/ticket.

Workshops
Workshops or residencies are available for all Project Discovery student matinees. We design these in-class experiences to focus on a variety of topics, including but not limited to: the themes of the play, how an actor prepares a scene, design choices of the production, etc.
PRICING
- $100 an hour
Prices may vary if a company actor visits the classroom. Mileage fees apply for locations outside of Providence.
