Trinity Rep’s dedication to education through art is one of our guiding principles as the State Theater of Rhode Island. We are excited to work with you to bring the magic of theater to your students.
Bring your students to theater at one of our Project Discovery student matinees, or we can bring theater to your students through our Creative Classrooms program.
Project Discovery Student Matinees
Project Discovery has given more than 1.4 million students the chance to experience live professional theater at a discounted rate through student matinees. Through Project Discovery, we offer study guides, in-school workshops and residencies for students, as well as professional development and preview nights for teachers.
Project Discovery Plus
Each season, we select an educational centerpiece show which is curriculum-tied as our Project Discovery Plus play. When a group purchases tickets to a Project Discovery Plus performance, they receive a comprehensive written study guide PLUS up to three, free in-school workshops with their students. These workshops are led by our education and artistic staff as well as our actors and sometimes the creative team, and can focus on themes, the production itself, acting, and more. We also provide a video study guide to be shown in the classroom.
Write Here! Write Now!
We encourage Creative Writing, English, and Theater teachers to assign a ten-minute play as a part of their classroom curriculum, and then have them submit all completed plays, free-of-charge. Submissions are open to any and all Grade 9-12 students within the New England area. Submitted scripts are adjudicated through a blind submission process by Trinity Rep Education, Artistic, and Literary staff. Each year, four winners are selected with at least one winner from a Providence, RI high school.
